This is museum quality reproduction of a solid ivory chess set which was antique when it was purchased
right after world war two in Hong Kong. The original bejeweled, scrimshawed and tea stained set has a conservative value of
around $10,000.00.
Most chess sets have 6 main characters. This set has 22 different character. The only pieces that
repeat on both sides are the pawns and the rooks, but all of them are different from each other.
Although this set is primarily a collectors set
it is also playable because it is made with the best materials. We have spent the extra time and money to assure that
this set is durable and will last well into the future. They are made from a high impact and scuff resistant plastic
that is rigid but not brittle. They are solid, we use marble dust which gives them the weight and temperature of ivory.. The
king for example weights over 10oz. This Chinese set, because of all the detail takes a lot longer to make then a normal
set.
